Anna Marzullo
With over a decade of experience in the public sector, Anna has applied her skills in policy analysis, strategic direction-setting, facilitation, and communication to a wide range of topics, from international relations to law enforcement to public housing. Her passion is to create tangible progress for fellow passionate people, to “operationalize” ideas into outcomes.
After attending the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Anna began her career as a consultant working on immigration issues, both domestically and internationally. She continued this theme as a Fulbright Scholar, studying the socio-cultural and legal integration of immigrants in southern Spain. Her time with the government began in 2010, when she became an analyst at the FBI and first experienced the intricacies of analysis and action coming together.
Soon after moving to New York, she was asked to join the reform efforts at the New York City Department of Correction as the Senior Policy Advisor to the Chief of Staff. Anna facilitated the implementation of several reforms at DOC, especially with regard to the alignment of the Department’s visit policies, the drastic reduction of punitive segregation, and Raise the Age legislation. It is here that she learned the power of asking questions to shape action.
In 2018, Anna began serving as the Senior Advisor for Strategy and Engagement at the New York City Mayor’s Office of Operations, where she expedited interagency cooperation in order to enact emerging and urgent City Hall priorities. Beginning in March 2020, she managed several City-wide initiatives to help stem the spread of COVID, including the deployment of social distancing ambassadors in City parks.
Anna specializes in finding a solution that works in the real world and coaxing it into existence. She has implemented complex initiatives in large organizations and nudged along tiny changes in small teams by making sense of complicated questions and using answers to make progress.
